Top News Stories Of The Week, Issue No. 2
Headline stories from throughout independent media you should know about, for the week of June 10th, 2022
Compiling some of the top headlines of the week from across alternative media, curated by Break The Matrix and beyond.
In this weeks edition…
1.) Mass Surveillance In Houston Texas
Another major American city moves closer to technocratic dystopia. As The Rutherford Institute reported, the city council of Houston Texas in April passed an ordinance which will take effect in mid-July, forcing all private businesses at their own cost to install a comprehensive 24/7 at digital surveillance network which police will be granted a total warrantless access to.
The program is being rolled out under the guise of "keeping the public safe", but in reality is a very on the nose way of increasing the illegal mass surveillance of the American public, while simultaneously circumventing any privacy protections the Fourth Amendment may still offer.
2.) Rhode Island Bill Attempts To Prohibit Geoengineering
A bill proposed by legislators in the US state of Rhode Island has taken aim at stopping programs harmful to life and the environment that include Geoengineering, Weather Modification, and Solar Radiation Management.
Interestingly, this is yet more official government acknowledgment of these phenomenon that for years have been derided as nothing but "conspiracy theories". Yet for years researchers such as myself and many others have provided irrefutable evidence of the existence of such programs up to and including official government and military documentation.
This report from Josh Sigurdson of World Alternative Media details the proposed bill, originally reported via NeedToKnow News directly linking to the legislation, further elaborating on its contents and giving a brief history of activism attempting to expose these programs.
Though its success is doubtful the fact that this bill now forces the topic to be addressed by government officials, at least on a state level, it will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
3.) US Congressional Candidate Campaigning On Abolishing The CIA, Ending The Drug War, & More
Geoff Young is currently in the race to become congressman in Kentucky's 6th district, and has already won the democratic primary, but his campaign is anything but conventional.
Young is a lifelong anti-war activist whose primary campaign messaging revolves around abolishing the CIA, referring to the agency as the world's most dangerous terrorist organization; As well as condemning US imperialism and demanding the abolition of AFRICOM; Ending the failed War on Drugs and shifting addiction policies from a criminal issue to a public health issue; And urging the federal government to immediately halt its arming of Nazis in Ukraine.
In the interview below, Multipolarista host Benjamin Norton interviews Young about his life of activism, and reasons behind his campaign goals.
On a personal note, it should be understood that my coverage of this story should not be misconstrued as any kind of endorsement. As everyone knows I am an ardent voluntaryist and reject the idea of non-consensual imposition of authority in all forms, and that includes voting and the very existence of the state. But I will admit it is nice to at least see these ideas brought forward on a more public stage because of Mr. Young's campaign. Hopefully it will bring many more people to understand these topics and rally support for the same.
4.) Dr. Pierre Kory – Jab Injuries, Deaths, And A Humanitarian Catastrophe
In this full-length interview with Greg Hunter, Dr. Pierre Kory goes in-depth discussing the surge of long lasting injuries among those who've received the experimental COVID-19 injection, and the concerning rise of sudden deaths among young healthy adults.
As well as discussing lies propagated in mainstream media regarding jab efficacy, ignored data, pharma corruption, shedding, Ivermectin, and more.
5.) As Ukraine War Defeat Looms, US Starts Playing The Blame Game
As I and others have recently pointed out, it seems as though the war in Ukraine is coming to an end, even more so since the fall of Mariupol. Now US officials are trying to figure who to blame.
A recent article from The New York Times is already beginning to spin the classic narrative of an "intelligence failure" as the reason behind Ukraine's defeat, despite the over 50 billion dollars of weaponry that the United States has sent to the nation, in addition to countless billions more from other countries. And only recently abandoning the previous narrative that Russia was experiencing catastrophic losses.
Quite frankly their war strategy is non-existent and they are losing on every front. The mainstream media is only now begrudgingly beginning to admit this. Much like with the "intelligence failures" in Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, the American Empire is now searching for a scapegoat. Don't be surprised if they end up putting the blame on Volodymyr Zelensky.
6.) Documents Reveal US-Trained Special Forces Involved In Central American Drug Trade
Reported by Popular Resistance, documents from the US DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) have recently been unsealed in court filings which reveal elite forces of the Honduran National Police, who received training and support from the US State Department, have been implicated in drug trafficking and assassinations.
An investigation of the history of the two units show deep ties to US support dating back to 2013, as well as a history of flagrant criminality, including human rights violations, repression of political dissidents, drug and gun offenses, theft, and abuse of authority, and organized crime.
7.) Another Food Production Facility Goes Up In Flames
On Tuesday, June 14th, it was reported out of Zero Hedge that yet another food production facility had caught ablaze. This time in Waupaca, Wisconsin.
This latest fire makes over 80 food facilities up in flames since the beginning of 2022. There still has yet to be any serious mention of this from government officials, nor an investigation into the string of destructive fires and other mysterious accidents ravage their way through our critical infrastructure.
Meanwhile, ever-worsening constraints to the supply chain, record high inflation, and general food insecurity are all converging to worsen the situation in the US. While a major food crisis, that is at least in part seemingly manufactured, looms for the entire world — Which the United Nations says runs the risk plunging one fifth of the worlds population into poverty and hunger:
For months, the specter of a global hunger crisis has been looming. The war in Ukraine is a compounding factor, blocking key value chains for food and fertilizer just as the world reckons with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on global hunger.
Add the pervasive effects of climate change to the mix, and the result is what the United Nations is calling a “perfect storm” that risks one-fifth of the global population – as many as 1.7 billion people – falling into poverty and hunger.
For our so-called "leaders" not to address this as an immediate concern goes well beyond dereliction of duty.
8.) UK Approves Julian Assange Extradition As Over 300 Doctors Implore Against It
Ahead of the U.K. Home Secretary’s decision to extradite Julian Assange to the United States, a group of more than 300 doctors representing 35 countries have told Priti Patel that approving his extradition would be “medically and ethically unacceptable”, Consortium News reports.
In an open letter sent to the Home Secretary on Friday (June 10), and copied to British Prime Minster Boris Johnson, the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Robert Buckland, the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, the doctors draw attention to the fact that Assange suffered a “mini stroke” in October 2021.
They note:
“Predictably, Mr Assange’s health has since continued to deteriorate in your custody. In October 2021 Mr. Assange suffered a ‘mini-stroke’… This dramatic deterioration of Mr Assange’s health has not yet been considered in his extradition proceedings. The US assurances accepted by the High Court, therefore, which would form the basis of any extradition approval, are founded upon outdated medical information, rendering them obsolete.”
The doctors charge that any extradition under these circumstances would constitute negligence.
For the last four years Assange has been unjustly detained in the UK's Belmarsh maximum-security prison as a political prisoner for exposing American war crimes.
On Wednesday, June 15th, Assange's brother Gabriel Shipton joined Jimmy Dore to provide an update on the legal battle.
At the time, UK Home Secretary Priti Patel was expected to deliver a ruling on whether or not Julian will be extradited to the US by June 20th.
In the interview below Gabriel discusses the nature of Julian's incarceration, and being persecuted for telling the truth. As well as the newly elected government in Australia, along with growing support for Assange, and the potential for a diplomatic resolution.
However, in the early morning of Friday, June 17th, UK Home Secretary Priti Patel signed an order approving Assange's extradition to the United States to stand trial for the aforementioned exposure American war crimes.
Assange's legal team immediately filled an appeal.
In the American government's effort to persecute a journalist for telling the truth, should Assange be convicted he would face 175 years in prison, in what would likely constitute inhumane conditions.
Human rights organization Amnesty International has released a statement condemning the order, saying that it puts Assange at risk of torture, and “sends a chilling message to journalists the world over".
In a press conference on Friday afternoon in London, Julian’s wife Stella Morris stated:
“We’re not at the end of the road here, we're going to fight this. We’re going to use every appeal avenue, and we’re going to fight. I’m going to spend every waking hour fighting for Julian until he is free. Until justice is served.”
